Use in Aquarium Keeping

  • Ammonia Testing: When measuring ammonia, ensure you use an ammonia salicylate test kit. Test kits based on Nessler’s reagent will give a false positive reading.
  • Health of Aquarium Inhabitants: Proper control of toxic ammonia is essential for the well-being of your aquatic life.
  • Supplementing Biological Filters: Fraction is not a substitute for a properly functioning biological filter or regular maintenance. If your bacterial filter is not functioning, consider using Continuum BacterGen•M or BacterGen•F, depending on your aquarium type.

Directions and Protocol

  1. Dosage for Chlorine/Chloramines:
    Dissolve 1 gram (about 1/5 teaspoon) of product for every 240 US gallons (960 L) of tap water to neutralize up to 3 mg/L of chlorine or chloramines.

  2. Dosage for Ammonia:
    To neutralize ammonia, use the same amount (1 gram) for every 60 US gallons (240 L) to address up to 1 mg/L of ammonia.

  3. Important Steps:

    • After dosing, wait 20 to 30 minutes and measure levels. If levels are not zero, repeat as needed.
    • Always adjust the temperature of the new water to match the aquarium's temperature before adding it.
    • Check pH, alkalinity, and other critical values as necessary before introducing the treated water.
