Use in Aquarium Keeping

To ensure accurate ammonia measurement, always use an ammonia salicylate test kit. Avoid kits based on Nessler’s reagent, as they may give false positive readings.

• Fraction is not a substitute for a properly functioning biological filter or good maintenance practices.
• To restore non-functioning bacterial filters, use Continuum BacterGen•M or BacterGen•F, depending on your aquarium type.

Directions and Protocol

Follow these steps for safe and effective use:

1. Neutralizing chlorine or chloramines:

   • Dissolve 1 gram (approximately 1/5 teaspoon) of Fraction for every 240 US gallons (960 L) of tap water.
   • This neutralizes up to 3 mg/l of chlorine or chloramines.

2. Neutralizing ammonia:

   • Dissolve 1 gram for every 60 US gallons (240 L) of water to neutralize up to 1 mg/l ammonia.

3. Important Guidelines:

   • Wait 20 to 30 minutes after dosing and measure levels. If levels are not zero, repeat as required.
   • Always adjust the temperature of new water to match the aquarium before adding it.
   • Check pH, alkalinity, and other critical values as necessary prior to use.
